I've been making music for almost twenty-five years and I've been teaching for the last ten. I recently completed a Master's degree in Studio Jazz Writing at the University of Miami on a full tuition scholarship. While there I played in the GRAMMY - nominated Concert Jazz Band along with other ensembles. I am currently the house saxophonist at BB King's Blues Club in West Palm Beach where I also write the horn arrangements. In addition to teaching privately in the area, I also teach at the Superior Academy of Music. Artists I have worked with include Dave Koz, Bruce Hornsby, Chris Potter, the Count Basie Orchestra, and Patti Austin. I teach saxophone and piano as well as arranging, composition, and music theory.

Composition (Music)

I have a Master's Degree in Studio Jazz Writing and have written for everything from instrumental duos to full orchestra and big band. I am proficient in the notation software Sibelius. Lessons focus on whatever particular ensemble the student wishes to write for and also include score study.

Ear Training

I try to develop a student's ears from the ground up. Lessons include studying interval relationship, identifying a root note, identifying chord qualities and general transcribing. I will often sit at the piano, play examples and have the students either duplicate them on their instrument or notate it on staff paper. General Music

I've been making music for 25 years. I play 6 instruments (at varying levels) and have taught age ranges from 9 to 50. I have a Masters Degree in Jazz Pedagogy and another Masters in Studio Jazz Writing. I have a working knowledge of Jazz, Pop, and Classical theory. I play piano and have taught students with no previous musical experience how to read and perform.

Piano

I've taken ten years of classical lessons and perform regularly in a jazz and pop context. I also teach private lessons to beginning to intermediate players. Focus includes finger technique, scale work, and etude study. For aspiring jazz pianists, I focus on ii-V-I voicings and applying those voicings to jazz standards.

Saxophone

I have played the saxophone for 20 years and have been teaching lessons for 10. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Studies and a Master's Degree in Jazz Pedagogy. The saxophone was my principal instrument in both of these degrees. I focus on tone exercises, scale exercises, and etude study. For my jazz students, I also include improvisation and transcription work.
