Hello!

Right now I am NOT accepting new students.

I have experience as a classroom teacher and working in a professional tutoring center. Just to give you some background of my credentials:

-I have classroom experience as a full time teacher, a long-term substitute, and as a regular day to day substitute teacher.

-I have a graduate degree in education and am licensed in Oregon to teach all elementary subjects from Pre-K to 6th grade (however I have taught and tutored older students).

-I have internship experience in kindergarten and middle elementary grades.

-I have worked privately and in a formal tutoring center with children ranging from first grade up to high school.

My education includes a masters in education and a degree in business.

Algebra 1

I can help students with math up through at least 8th grade algebra or geometry. I have taught 8th grade math and would love to work with any student.

My past experience does include tutoring with high school students but it depends on the subject.

I also have some experience with probability and statistics as a business undergrad.

Geometry

I have experience teaching math all the way from Kindergarten to 8th grade. I would be happy to work with your child on geometry concepts.

Spanish

I have taken college level Spanish, participated in local discussion groups, and have filled in as the Spanish teacher at the schools where I have worked.

English

I have very strong language skills and can help any student with this area.

I can work with a student on punctuation, spelling, proper uses of tense, and clarity in their writing. I also can work with a student on vocabulary and comprehension.

My credentials include a degree in education and a teaching license for all subjects up through 6th grade.

Elementary Math

My background in elementary math includes the following:

I am new to California and have a valid Oregon Teaching license for teaching elementary education all subjects. I have also taught math all the way up to 8th grade.

Phonics

My qualifications for teaching phonics includes:

-A master's in education which included extensive training on teaching reading, writing, and grammar. I also have been trained on identifying and teaching specific digraphs needed to pronounce words.

- I have worked as an intern for 5 months in AM and PM kindergarten classrooms during which time I worked daily on teaching children how to sound out words to correctly spell and read.

Sewing

I have sewn for 15 years.

I have my own online sewing business and sell clothing, handbags, and other sewn crafts.

I have experience with using patterns, adjusting patterns for fit, choosing fabrics, and creating my own designs.

Drawing

Throughout my academic career I have taken numerous art and crafting classes.

I have education in the fundamentals of drawing such as line, shading, tone, and texture.

I have learned to do scratch board, basic calligraphy, abstract line drawing, pencil and ink drawings, pixellated drawings, and three dimensional line using wire.

Cooking

I took my first cooking class 32 years ago. I have been cooking in the home for family for 26 years.

I know fundamentals of baking, preparing meals, shopping and planning of meals. Most of my background is in American family classics but I can probably help anyone who needs help with their cooking skills.

I have some familiarity with some international cuisines such as Italian, German, and Mexican.

Social Studies

I have a masters degree in education and during my studies I received instruction on how to teach social studies. I have taught social studies as a classroom teacher for a year. I have planned and taught social studies units as a long term substitute for the Philadelphia School District.
