I have a deeply-felt, cherished commitment to bringing the dreams of my tutoring and editing clients to fruition, and I lend unprecedented energy, love, compassion, and resolve to my work. Helping my students grow as people and as learners in and of this world is my passion and obsession.
I'm an enormous believer in action; to me, there is truly no time but the present to take advantage of the many resources we all have at any given moment. The problem is simply that those resources are often invisible to our own eyes.
This is where I come into play. If your goals or your child's goals include growing in ability, gaining confidence, and experiencing a true love for life and learning, you owe it to yourself to get in touch with me now.
IN A NUTSHELL-------------->
I am primarily an English tutor, writing coach, and editor with a high school English teaching license.
The realm of literature and all it contains is my forte and great joy. I teach people to analyze, appreciate, write--and revel in our shared humanity. Language arts, English, literature--whatever you want to call it--is all a study of the human condition itself, and nothing is more powerful than that.
I am an extremely effective writing coach, providing fantastic encouragement, structure, and support. I regularly guide my students in the process of writing their own perfect papers until they have mastered the process.
Editing is one of my favorite things to do, and I am extremely proficient at furthering any student's writing. I edit all kinds of work, and I do it with alacrity and insight.
I adore animals, tea, fencing, trying new recipes, Victoriana, cheesy horror movies, slam poetry, and laughter. Red is my favorite color by far. I am passionate about a great, great many things, and life is not something I take lightly.

MY EDUCATION BACKGROUND---------->
I am a Smith College alumna with a degree in literature and an English high school teaching license. At Smith I was the recipient of a Dana Teaching Grant scholarship and was featured in the Smith Alumnae Quarterly, as well as the school newspaper, for my teaching personality and dedication to the practice. I have copious experience teaching children, adolescents, and adults in a huge variety of settings--I've headed and assisted with pedagogy concerning dance moves and music, dystopian literature, fencing coaching, modern-world Hamlet interpretations, and proofreading skills, to name a few. My various assignments have allowed me to work with all ages of students, preschool through adult.
MY TUTORING BACKGROUND----------------->
I have worked with 80+ students privately in the past four years and countless more in classroom/institutional settings. Each of my students is unique and makes a significant contribution to the world in existing alone. I can't say enough how much I value and see the strengths in each person I work with in my life; it is this quality, among many others, that makes me a truly excellent educator.
Please make sure to see my subject descriptions for much more information.
THE FABLED FINE PRINT----------->
If you are studying or wish to study a book I have not read, please allow me 1 WEEK MINIMUM to read it and be prepared to fully work on it with you. As such, make sure to notify me of your book(s) as in advance of your assignments as possible!
I have many demands on my time and many students. I ask that you please, please be considerate when scheduling time with me and communicating with me, as I will extend you the same courtesy. Texting and e-mailing are by far the best ways to reach me. Calls are fine, but should be arranged, please.
I have a 36-hour cancellation policy that excludes illness and emergency. If you cancel within 36 hours and those situations are not present, it is my prerogative to charge you for the session. Please remember that tutoring is my livelihood, and please do not reschedule or cancel unless it truly is necessary. This is necessary not only for me, but for your learning and success. Thank you so much in advance.
If you are not a considerate, kind person, I do not wish to work with you. Period. A screening process is implicit in all initial communications I have with new clients, and I will decline working with you or your family if you do not show me the level of respect I show everyone in my life.
Lastly, since tutoring has the uncanny ability to take over one's life, please understand that on TUESDAYS, THURSDAYS, and FRIDAYS, I will most likely not respond to your e-mails or texts quickly unless they concern a lesson we are having on one of those days. My business needs to go on the backburner a few days a week. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
