Well, as far as my educational experience goes...
I recently graduated magna cum laude from Rutgers University. While there, I was a part of the acting track at Mason Gross School of the Arts, the Rutgers arts conservatory, which accepts fewer than 20 students from across the country and is the only American school to have a full year program at Shakespeare's Globe in London. I also became the first acting student in its history to double major. My second major was English, which I pursued through the Rutgers College Honors Program and in which I received straight A's. At the end of it all, I stood on the graduation stage as the recipient of the Dr. Jaroslav and Grayce Susan Burian Prize, awarded to the student with the highest departmental GPA (3.84).
Before college, I won two national essay contests (the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards '97, and the National Council of Teachers of English Awards '02) in addition to numerous state and regional poetry and dramatic writing awards, was a published poet, produced playwright, and honor roll student.
As far as my teaching experience goes...
While studying in London, I had the opportunity of helping a group of 20 middle school girls prepare a production of Shakespeare's "As You Like It" for the Globe stage. I am currently a teaching artist with the Judith Shakespeare Company, helping three classes of middle schoolers at Dyker Heights Middle School in Brooklyn, prepare a production of Shakespeare's "Comedy of Errors". In addition to this, I am also employed by Cornell-Weil Medical Center as a standardized patient to help medical students learn proper doctor-patient interaction.
In terms of teaching style, I tend to be informal and flexible. I always learned best with teachers that treated me as an adult and as as much of an equal as possible. Education shouldn't be something that makes you feel bad about yourself for not knowing an answer but rather something that excites you to delve deeper into the complexities of a given subject. |

I am a working actor in New York City and have been steadily involved in the industry since my graduation in May of 2007.
I graduated magna cum laude (and with the highest departmental GPA) from the Rutgers University Conservatory, Mason Gross School of the Arts, with my BFA in Theatre Arts. While at school, I spent two semesters abroad studying classical acting under the masters at Shakespeare's Globe in London. The program culminated in performances of Much Ado About Nothing on the Globe Stage.
Back in the States, I have been a part of many theatatrical and television productions both on-stage as an actress and off-stage as a director, assistant director, producer, production assistant, stage manager, assistant stage manager, and costume assistant.
I have taught Shakespeare to classes of children, ages 10-18, on both sides of the Atlantic, to great success.
I also received A's in all academic theater related classes (i.e. Theater History I and II, Script Analysis, etc) and have all my text books and notes to teach out of.
I have trained in the Meisner acting technique, Linklater voice technique, Skinner diction technique, and Williamson and Alexander movement techniques.
