Socrates says: “If you ask a question or series of questions in which your prospect can readily agree, then ask a concluding question based on those agreements, you will receive a desirable response.” Over four years of tutoring and teaching, I believe in the Socratic Method. As a tutor, I feel my job is asking the right questions and not just giving the right answers. I believe that students are intelligent enough to find the answers themselves. I try to engage their minds rather than engaging them in copying and doing the same old I-don’t-get-it thing. Four years ago, when I helped a friend out with his physics which lead him to his first 100% in his class, I realized how good I could be at tutoring. Also, the joy of helping someone else was just indescribable. This joy was the main cause which made me follow what I was good at and improve my communication skills. I took several classes which were tremendously helpful. When I transferred to UC San Diego in pursuit of a biology major, I wasn’t quite in touch with college students anymore. I started working at different tutoring centers where I had the opportunity to work with many K-12 students. I have tutored many different subjects such as math up to calculus levels, algebra, chemistry lower levels than organic chemistry and physics, all subjects except waves and optics. I have also had many students who were preparing themselves for different tests such as SAT, SSAT, ISEE, Toefl and SAT subject tests. I have made a very strong and respectful relation with most of the students whom I have worked with. I’m very reliable; I have tutored a student from 10pm to 4:30am to prepare him for his test. It’s needless to say how passionate I am about tutoring because I find making a difference in a student’s life absolutely delightful. |

Amazing tutor
Alireza is a wonderful instructor, i was right for choosing him. He is very knowledgable and very professional, he explained all the Chemistry concepts and content very clearly to me despite the short period of time we had.
