I am a native of Germany and have lived in the United States for the past 16 years. My family and I live in Plymouth, MI. I have been teaching German to adults, families and students for the past 2 years. My degree is in German/English translation obtained in Duesseldorf, Germany. My teaching style is tailored to what the student would like to accomplish. If the intention is to move to Germany, the focus would be on conversation. If help is needed with homework, classroom assignments or passing AP German, the focus would be on a more structured approach to the language. Some people who work for a German-based company would like to understand and speak a minimum of German, so the focus would be on building vocabulary and grammar.
My approach to ESL instruction is to learn the basics first and build from there, also more of a practical than structural approach.

Being a native from another country than the United States and having gone through learning English myself after arriving in 1991, I became passionate about helping other people learning English for the first time. My first approach is to help people to manage their everyday affairs and then build on vocabulary and grammar. For the past year I have been instructing people in ESL in foreign companies based in the Metro Detroit area. I enjoy seeing their success at mastering the English language in such a short time.
