About Anya:

I am a California native who has taught high-school biology and chemistry at elite private schools for 5 years. My bachelor's degree is in Biology, from Columbia University. I regularly tutor my own students in science and how to study. I have also tutored students from other schools in their homes or at a convenient meeting location like a public library. To solve problems in chemistry, there is a lot of algebra and other math topics, so I am very comfortable with mathematics as well. I am always respectful and patient with my students and I am an enthusiastic teacher. I have a variety of web resources and animations that I can use to help students grasp difficult processes. I help my students gain a deep knowledge of the subject by connecting ideas to every-day life and to other academic subjects. We discuss the Latin roots of new vocabulary words, the history behind the topic, and how math and technology and science can be used to understand one another.
