About
Steven: |
|
My name is Steve, I am thirty-two years old and have recently returned to college, from my sales position, to major in Early Childhood Education. It has always been my dream to be a teacher and I look forward to getting my degree and my own class.
Since I have returned to Sinclair Community College in Dayton, I have been on the dean's list every quarter, and I currently have a 3.667 GPA. I have taken Honors English, earned A's in all my English classes and have been recommended by all my English professors to work in the Writing Center at Sinclair, helping other students with various papers. I have special interest in helping children learn to read or read better, much the reason I chose to teach younger kids instead of older. I can supply letters of recommendation upon request.
I have had many years of experience tutoring my younger brother with math, english, reading, spelling, and science. I also have volunteered with a non-profit organization that helps to teach children conflict resolution, anger management, and social skills.

My interest in teaching children, especially reading, phonics, and vocabulary, dates back to my own childhood. I have recently returned to college to complete my degree in Early Childhood Education. Since returning to college, I have been on the dean's list every quarter and my GPA is 3.667. I know that I posses the skills in math, English, grammer, spelling, phonics, reading, social studies, and science to teach a child in the kindergarten through sixth grade level. I know that I have the skills and patience to work with children from my experience with a non-profit that works with children on conflict resolution, anger management, and group skills.

grammar
|
I have extensive knowledge in the area of grammar, phonics, spelling, and punctuation. Since returning to college, I have taken English 111, Honors English 112, and English 113. I received an A in all the classes and have received high praise for my writing ability, which would include my use of correct grammar. I also have written recommendations from my English professors, recommending me to work in the student writing center, helping other students with various papers.

proofreading
|
Before returning to college, I worked for my family's printing company. Often, one of my duties was to help proofread documents for spelling errors, typing errors, punctuation, and grammar. After almost fifteen years experience, I would have to say I am quite good at basic proofreading.
Beyond my experience in the printing industry, since I have returned to college, I have excelled at helping other students not only proofread for basic errors, but to also help with logic, content, thesis, supporting evidence, and basic layout of papers. I have earned an A in all my core English classes and have earned the respect of my professors.
