I have my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I also have my Bachelor's Degree in Spanish Education. I hold a current Washington State Teaching Certificate, with a K-12 Spanish endorsement, as well as a 4-12 Math endorsement and a K-12 Bilingual Education Endorsement. I have taught Spanish for 16 years at a public high school, as well as Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 for two years. I am taking a leave of absence this year, but am missing teaching students (my students are missing me terribly; they say that I'm an awesome teacher). So that's why I have signed up to be a tutor. I love imparting knowledge to others, to see them learn. I have a natural ability of explaining things clearly and in different ways so that the student not only understands but enjoys learning at the same time.
My passion is Spanish and helping others. I have traveled to several Spanish-speaking countries: Spain 3 times, Colombia once for 17 days, and Mexico 9 times. My first trip to Spain was with 7 of my high school students. My second trip was for a personal vacation, and my third trip was to Salamanca on a Boeing/Embassay of Spain scholarship, to study Spanish and Spanish culture at the University of Salamanca. My trip to Colombia was for a personal vacation with friends of mine who lived in Colombia. I was in Bogota, Medellin, La Mesa and Carmen de Picala. For my trips to Mexico, 2 were summer stays living with a family in Guadalajara (I was helping build a church); one was as a hired interpreter for a youth missions trip; one was to study at a language institute in Merida; and the rest were for personal vacations. |

Karlyn's Experience:
grammar
|
I am competent to tutor grammar both in English and Spanish because I have been teaching this (English and Spanish grammar) for 16 years. I have a Masters Degree in Curriculum (grammar is part of the Spanish curricula that I teach) and Instruction (I know 'how' to teach it). I have a Bachelors degree in Spanish K-12 education, and had to take several grammar classes (both in English and Spanish) for that degree. I graduated from high school with a perfect 4.0 GPA, I graduated with a 3.71 GPA (cum laude) for my Bachelors degree, and a 3.74 GPA for my Masters Degree. I am a great learner as well as teacher; for many of my past students I was there favorite teacher.

proofreading

I am an awesome proof reader. I have been proof reading students' papers for the past 16 years as a full time Spanish teacher. My grammar is very good: I have a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction (3.74 GPA), a Bachelors degree in Spanish K-12 education (3.71 GPA - cum laude), and an Associates degree in Arts in Sciences (4.0 GPA). I also graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA. In addition to the past 16 years of full time work, I also have been serving as a proof reader for the past 7 1/2 years for a private company.
