I graduated from the University of Denver, but first I attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.I married a medical student in my senior year and so abandoned my formal education, temporarily. Seven years and three beautiful children later, I taught at the local high school in De Ridder, LA. When we moved to Denver, I decided to finish college. My husband completed his radiology residency, and I received my BA degree and Secondary Teaching Certificate. We both were so proud of ourselves!
I taught in the Denver area as a substitute teacher in English and US History for a few years, and I loved it. However, my marriage was in dire trouble and my husband did not want me to work, so I did not pursue full time teaching.
After we divorced, I raised my children as best I could, and also pursued a career raising and showing many beautiful show horses.
Years later, when my children had left the nest, I traveled to New Zealand where I met and married a New Zealander.
After five years of missing my family and my country, I returned to the USA in 1993 and have enjoyed many different interesting occupations. These included experience as an employment agency owner, a nanny and a personal chef. My life has been anything but dull!
Now I have retired, but I still yearn to teach children the beauty of the English language, the importance of literature, and the value of learning our country's history. First we learn, then we experience. I believe that to live life to the fullest, one needs education, then knowledge, then experience.
