Having studied French grammar and culture for over 30 years, I am fortunate to be able to say that I lived in France for 7 of those years. I taught in a French high school and at La Sorbonne, the University of Paris and the University of Cergy-Pontoise. I have also taught at New York University while I was pursuing my Ph.D. in French literature. Although my highest degree obtained is that of a Masters Degree, I did, indeed, complete all of my coursework necessary for a Ph.D. at NYU.
My linguistic experience comprises that of an anglophone teaching English, amongst other subjects, in France, in addition to French language and culture in the United States. I currently teach 8th through 12th grade, including college prep AP French at a high school in New Jersey.
I have had tutoring experience both in France and in the U.S. My tutoring sessions are quite intense, combining verbal, reading and written comprehension skills in one session. I work with each individual differently, as each student has strong points and weaknesses. Working on one's needs and creating a stronger foundation is key to building a solid path to exploring French even further - enough so that a student will enjoy his or her experience when going to France!
I am looking forward to tutoring students in French, as it is my passion, and sharing this knowledge is a positive experience for me. This, in turn, I believe, will make learning French a positive experience for the student in question.
