elementary (k-6th) My first qualification is that I loved elementary school. From K through 6th grade, I enjoyed going to school every day. I was one of those kids who hated to stay home sick because I was afraid I'd miss learning something fun! That being said, I really enjoy the subject matter (still!), and obviously had some great teachers that provided good examples of how to engage students. As for teaching experience, I have tutored elementary school students in reading, as far back as in high school, and recently through a work program. My company partnered with a local elementary school and once a week I would go to the school and work with a student on her reading skills. I enjoyed this experience. My own education has gone through graduate level science (as well as college-level English, math, and history), so it is refreshing to go back to the elementary-school level. I would love to tutor these young students!
