About Patrick:

Hi! My name is Patrick, and I am a first year student at Georgetown University. I attended a preparatory high school in New Hampshire and graduated as salutatorian. I also achieved various other awards for my academic and athletic achievements including American Lebanese Awareness Scholarship for academic excellence, Barbara and David Stahl Scholarship Award for completing my junior year first in my class, and the 2007 NHADA/NHIAA High School Male Athletic/Academic Award. I have enjoyed studying in DC immensely, and I have taken advantage of my time at Georgetown by getting involved in a gamut of activities while maintaining a 3.94 GPA. During my high school career, I tutored many students and peers, often at the request of teachers. I have tutored a wide variety of subjects, and I have extensive experience in math and writing. Math particularly is one of my strongest subjects; I have received an “A” in every math class that I have ever taken. As a student, I recognize many areas in math that often confuse students or that textbooks and teachers have a hard time conveying. I slowly go over the material to solidify the student’s knowledge and conceptual understanding. I find that because I am a student, I can explain the difficult concepts in terms that other students can easily grasp. One of the goals I often have for students includes the ability for the student to teach the material back to me; this is an excellent indication of whether or not the student truly understands the underlying concepts and ideas presented. Along with math, I am a very strong writer. My analytical and writing skills are well-developed and are considered superior by my teachers and peers. In high school, I had extensive experience writing strong historical papers, as well as textual analysis papers. As a tutor, I help the student develop well-organized papers with solid arguments and evidence. Along with analytical skills, I help to reinforce strong grammatical skills by also including a variety of sentence structures. As strong communication and analytical skills are essential for many careers, I focus on developing a thesis from the evidence while at the same time allowing the student to explore a variety of creative ways to write the argument. Along with academics, I am very passionate about tennis. I have been playing for 11 years, and I was in the top six of the varsity team all four years of high school. I have aided my team in winning the state championship 3 times, including holding an undefeated season during my junior year. I have also coached a variety of students in previous years in tennis to improve basic strokes, as well as to develop strategies. I look forward to forming a great relationship with the student, and I hope to hear from you. If you have any questions feel free to contact me!
