About
Vanessa: |
|
Hi there! I am new to the tutoring arena, but I posses the patience and skill required to guide a student through the learning process. I am currently enrolled in college myself and can understand the time constraints, as well as, the stress that comes with academic persuits. My field of study is Molecular Biotechnology, which has given me a strong science and mathmatical background.
I have recently tutored at Lansing Community College in both the Supplemental Instruction Department and independantly with large groups and individual students. My students tell me that I am tough, but fair, allowing them to learn at their own pace and not completing the work for them. I have also been helpful with time management and motivational issues.
Finally, on a personal note, I am also the mother of a wonderful eight year old. I have seen first hand the stress and tears that homework can bring. I'm looking forward to working with your student and bringing an end to the nightly struggle. |

anatomy

I would be pleased to re-enter the realm of anatomy with you! I have taken anatomy at the college level at Lansing Community College. I received a 4.0 for the course. I can see from first hand experience the need for extra help that this course generates. I can also see where a patient and knowlegeable tutor would help considerably. I have tutored this subject privately in the past with great success. I have many tricks and phrases to help learn the material and also some suggestions for making the best use possible of study time.

physiology
|
Let me start by saying that I LOVE physiology. I know that it is prone to causing headache and heartache in many people, but with the right amount of direction and support it can be an amazing subject. My hope is to transfer to MSU where I can complement what I have already learned in their physiology program.
I have taken physiology at Lansing Community College. My professor teaches at both LCC and MSU and uses the same material for both. I received a 4.0 for the course and went on to become a Supplemental Instruction Leader through the college's Tutoring Services Department. The department required me to sit the class with the students I would be tutoring. As a result, I have physically been through the class 5 times. I feel this has given me a very strong command of the subject matter, as well as the ability to pass the knowledge on to others.
