About Leslie:

I have had over 30 years educating young and old alike. After graduating from three major colleges and university in California teaching became my profession of choice. Teaching at the Middle school level up through the Junior College levels in Introductory courses in Mathematics and Sociology, the challenges have never ended they have only gotten more interesting. MY GOAL IS TO FIND OUT WHAT MAKES YOU LEARN- THROUGH WHAT MODALITY i.e. do you respond to sight, sounds, touch, taste, smell or a combination of any or all of the above.
I then plan my strategies around your strengths so learning becomes easier and more comforting for you. You will be introduced to my methodology in due course.

More On Leslie's Subjects:

  • ESL/ESOL

Having graduated from UCLA with a certification in ESL ( English as a Second Language ) in 1978, I have taught, interacted with, and facilitated the acquisition of basic as well as advanced English language skills with people from just about every country most of us can think of. I taught ESL for over 15 years in the Los Angeles Unified School District Adult Division, 5 years in a community college in Georgia. I like focusing on conversation, with lots of practice in pronounciation especially with respect to the various sounds of the English Alphabet( Lingua-Dental, Dipthongs etc.). I am a firm believer in total emersion and indulgence in the idiosyncratic within our language. In cases of multiple students, I like to do such exercises like "Round Robin" and other practices that involve the students in daily functional activities. I believe that the acquisition of a second language is a wonderful experience and I totally enjoy the experience of facilitating the learner.
