About

Reference from recent student:
I was asked to clarify my academic experiences with James Saller. I enthusiastically appreciate the opportunity to recommend James.
I have known James for through his undergraduate work at USF. As a colleague of mine, James had impressed me on multiple occasions with his insight in our various courses. James had tutored me and other students, where he has proved not only a scientific aptitude, but also a natural flair for teaching. I am indebted to his willingness to tutor me for MCAT, as he was a joy to work with. James’s ability to communicate was used in his tutoring services, where many students had commented to me he was ‘an amazing, articulate and intelligent instructor’. Based upon my observations, James has proven himself to have a ravenous appetite for knowledge, especially having an aptitude for teaching MCAT, as well as other subjects in the sciences. I have known many colleagues that have taught, and James was one of the most impressive students that have tutored me and other students. James performed excellently our courses in the department of Microbiology. James’s course-load of a BS in Microbiology, BA in Chemistry, minor in Biophysics, as well as his honors college thesis attest to his work ethic.
James’s participation in research was robust, as he kept me apprised of his knowledge gains through the competitive Institute of Biomedical Science grant. Through his research he had continued to translate many MCAT relevant topics in biology, general chemistry, and organic chemistry through his teaching utilizing his research background to aid in tutoring. James’s academic record speaks to James’s capabilities, though it’s important to have a comprehensive picture of James. In my experience at the NIH, I have had a good gauge for assessing qualities of successful, intelligent, and collaborative team players. James epitomizes the qualities I look for in a colleague. My observations of his highly collaborative, motivated, and proactive attitude ensure excellence in teaching. I am happy to report James’s work ethic has translated to his tutoring as his students’ results in standardized examinations have proven that he is far above average.
James’s teaching ability will lead him to a program that will be extremely fortunate to have such a brilliant, driven, and collaborative scholar to add to their roster. Based on my own and other students’ experiences prove, he is a tremendously valuable asset.
Sincerely,
Kevin Plumley MPH, NIH, MSI
