More On Lilian's Subjects:

  • elementary (k-6th)

I have been a nanny for multiple families over the course of 7 years. During this time, I helped with after school homework especially in math. I am very comfortable with children of all ages, and I understand the difficulties when teaching children with different learning styles. The ages I'm comfortable tutoring include 3yrs old to 6th grade but are not restricted. I am comfortable teaching all subjects, but I am very specialized in math. I'm currently a Senior in Mechanical Engineering at University of Texas at Austin, so math, physics, and logical reasoning are something I use everyday. I have achieved all A's in all math courses throughout junior high and high school in the Gifted/Talented/Advanced Placement program. I obtained a 5 (the highest possible) score on my high school AP Calculus exam.

  • study skills

I've realized that if it weren't for study skills, I wouldn't be where I am today. They are so imperative to education and should be established at an early age. I've discovered that many children don't always struggle with the material itself, but learning how to handle the material when it gets out of their comfort zone. This can be accomplished by developing the proper study skills and study habits so when material does get difficult, it won't lag the student behind.

  • tennis

I have been playing tennis for over 10 years and teaching for 6 years. My highest ranking was top 20 in the Texas Section for Super Championship girls 18's. I also played 1 year at Oklahoma State University on the Varsity Tennis team. I then transferred to University of Texas and played on the University Intramural Team for one year. During this time, I also played for a men's league in Austin. During the summer, I usually assist in tennis summer camps. I have assisted in a summer tennis camp with Duke Odizer (made it to the round of 16 in Wimbeldon). I love promoting such an enjoyable and healthy sport to all ages and all levels!
