Learn More About Anna's Experience:

sewing I have been sewing since the age of 12, when my mother, a Family and Consumer Sciences (home ec) teacher, taught me against my will! I grew to love sewing and ended up taking six semesters of it in high school. In these classes, I learned basic sewing (hand and machine) and tailoring techniques. By my senior year, my teacher promoted me to the status of an independent studies fashion student. In the independent study program, I learned to design my own clothes, alter patterns, make my own patterns, and sew high quality, complicated garments like blazers and evening gowns. While I have never formally taught a sewing class, one of my responsibilities as an independent study student was to assist and mentor lower level sewing students. swimming I swam competitively from 7th grade to my senior year of high school. I specialized in freestyle and free relays, but have competed in all strokes. During my sophomore, junior, and senior years of high school, I assisted the middle school swim team. I taught flip turns, starts, and breathing techniques, and supervised stroke drills. The students I worked with ranged from beginners to advanced competitive swimmers. I also have had some experience with elementary age swimmers during my time as a summer camp counselor.
