Teaching for 34 years has been my passion. I began my career in the middle school teaching English, spelling, and Title I. After relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada, substituting led me to UNLV, where I worked as a grad assistant teaching speed reading at the college, assisting in the Reading Clinic, and earning a Masters Degree in Education with a Reading Specialist Degree.
I returned to South Bend, IN to become a reading specialist, which involved: group and individualized testing, establishing a reading curriculum (reading lab, developmental reading, college bound course), creating reading assessments and a reading lab setting, consulting students, colleagues, and the corporation, and assisting with textbook adoption in all academic areas.
After retirement, I enjoyed my brief experience as a Student Teacher Supervisor for Indiana University, South Bend. In 2005, my husband and I moved to Florida. At the present time, I am administering ACT tests to potential students wishing to enter Everest University.
As one of 8 Indiana educators, I had the privilege of spending a month in Germany studying their educational system in 1989. I was nominated for Teacher of the Year three times, have been entered in Who's Who Among America's Teachers three different years, and was quoted in an administrators' educational journal.
Education is and has been a priority in my life.
