Learn More About Laurel's Experience:

sewing I have been sewing since I was about eight years old. I had 9 brothers and sisters and my mother made most of our clothing. She taught me and my tive sisters how to sew. My olders sisters learned to sew so they could have more stylish clothing and so did I. I sewed all my prom gowns and most of my bathing suits. Some of my gowns included lace inserts and appliques. I am experienced in sewing button holes, installing zippers, long and short sleeves, cuffs and collars and lace edging. The bathing suits,jackets and gowns that I sewed required linings. I have also made most of my daughter's clothing when she was a youngster. I have sewn costumes for my daughter for Holloween every year of her childhood. These costumes included a ballerina type fairy costume, an astronaut, a dragon and a rock. I sew my own drapes and curtains. I designed and sewed my silk wedding gown. I also sewed my daughters wedding gown which was a sleeveless antibellum design created by my daughter. In order to sew this gown I had to combine three patterns and make adjustments to said patterns to adapt them to eachother. It also required boning and French seams.
