I am a recent college graduate from a small liberal arts school where I had the opportunity to study a variety of subjects and receive a well-rounded education. My major was Hispanic Studies. In 2007 I spent a semester in Valparaiso, Chile, where I greatly improved my Spanish and met my husband, with whom I now speak Spanish exclusively. My Spanish is strong in all areas, including reading, writing, grammar, and speaking. My final semester at university I did individual Spanish tutoring with other college students and was pleased with the progress they made, my improvement as a tutor, and the newfound appreciation I gained for the complexity of languages. I look forward to working with more students to help them get excited about learning a fun and rewarding skill.

Although Spanish is my favorite subject area, I have always been strong in English and math, and I enjoy these subjects as well. I tutored high school students in these areas when I was attending college.

I am currently a bilingual assistant with the Head Start preschool program. I am taking Early Childhood Education courses and hope to become a preschool teacher within the next two years. I am a quiet, gentle, and understanding person who loves teaching and learning from other people.

  I began playing basketball when I was nine years old. I played throughout elementary school, junior high, and high school on the school teams (including varsity), and was a starter for several years. In college I continued to play in classes and on intramural teams, as well as attending games at the university. I am familiar with all the rules of the game and have would feel comfortable teaching basic skills to beginners.

  I began taking classical piano lessons with a talented and perfectionistic teacher when I was ten years old. I took lessons until graduating from high school, and in college I continued to practice and teach myself new songs, playing in the dorm lounge up to an hour each day. I took Jazz piano lessons for a semester and joined the Jazz band at my college for a brief time. Now that I have graduated from college I continue to play daily in my own home. During junior high and high school I taught piano lessons to three different people, twice for school projects and once to a neighbor. I enjoyed the challenge of teaching and the opportunity to share one of my favorite pastimes with other people.

  Exceeds my expectations! What a find!

  Kristina has been a superb tutor for my 17 year old, introverted son. He was feeling quite lost and discouraged going into his Spanish final. After their first session of 1.5 hours I could tell that he was feeling much more optimistic. After 3 sessions (5 hours total) I can tell he is feeling much more confident. He really enjoys working with Kristina and has reviewed his entire text book for the semester as well as going over all the exercises in the text and additional exercises Kristina brought to reinforce his review. Kristina is focussed, low key, non-threatening. Her manner is very professional, pleasant, and enthusiastic. She has been able to open my son's mind to learning the material - a miraculous accomplishment!I wish I had made contact with Kristina a year ago - she might have entirely changed my son's attitude towards learning Spanish. I cannot say enough positive things about Kristina and this experience. She has been flexible in meeting my scheduling needs and very responsive to any questions I have. I have recommended Wyzant.com and Kristina to my son's high school Spanish teacher. Wyzant.com should advertise in the Sacramento City Unified School District newsletter. I have contacted other tutors through those adds but none compare in caliber and reasonable pricing to Kristina and Wyzant.
