About
Ashley: |
|
My background is varied. I have studied music, specifically piano performance, since the age of 6 and pursued it for a year in college before changing my major to focus on linguistics and the Spanish language.
I have a degree in Spanish Language and Culture which has given me a strong ability to analyze literature in Spanish and English. I have good vocabulary and grammar skills, as well as a good understanding music theory.
I have plenty of teaching experience. I taught piano lessons to beginning students for a total of three years in high school. Throughout high school and college I have participated in and lead music groups. In college I volunteered to teach English as a second language for about 2 years and also volunteered to teach beginning Spanish to adults for a little over a year. I now work as a bilingual customer service representative.
Teaching is something I enjoy. I have a very outgoing personality and find that people are comfortable around me. I love working with people and have always been able to teach at the level of the student, especially when I'm able to work one-on-one with someone. |

Ashley's Experience:
Bible studies
|
My experience with Bible Study has been purely leisure. I have been involved in group Bible studies now for over 4 years. I have also been studying on my own for approximately 3 year. I currently attend a weekly Bible Study with a group of peers led by an intern at a local church.

ESL/ESOL
|
I have taught ESL on a volunteer basis for 2 years. I was under the instruction of an ESL certified instructor. We met bi-weekly and taught to a group of 2-5 depending on the week. Our students were Mexican with little or no knowledge of the English language. We taught them English grammar and vocabulary as well as practical application. Several of our lessons took place in local stores where they were able to practice phrases we taught them.

general music
|
I have been studying music for 18 years. My piano lessons began at the age of 6. They included lessons in music theory. I began studying the trumpet at age of 11 and played in the public school systems through high school graduation. I taught piano to beginning students for three years in high school.
I was a piano performance major for my first of college and had a very high GPA for all of my music classes.

music theory
|
I have studied music theory for over 16 years. I was accepted into the University of Milwaukee-Wisconsin for music performance and did very well in all of my music theory classes. I am still very involved in the community as a musician, so my knowledge of music theory is fresh. I also had three years of teaching piano to beginning students, which allowed me to really solidify my knowledge of music theory.

piano
|
I studied piano for 13 years, one of which was a year of study at university level. I was accepted to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as a piano performance major and excelled in my lessons there. I only studied there for a year, deciding I wanted to pursue a different career. However, I still play the piano on a very regular basis. I am currenlty involved in two musical groups, so I have to opportunity to collaborate with them approximatly 2-3 times a week.
