About
Ashley: |
|
I graduated from UT with a degree in Religious Studies and Philosophy and taught High School and Middle School World Religions, Old and New Testament, and Ethics at an Episcopal school in San Antonio. This year I returned to Austin, was married, and started a Master of Arts in Religion at the Theological Seminary of the Southwest. I plan to continue teaching upon the completion of my degree, but in the meantime I would love to put my passion and dedication for education to use as a part-time tutor. |

I was raised in the Episcopal church, and I received a BA from the University of Texas in Religious Studies. During my time at UT, I worked as the Program Coordinator of the Episcopal Student Center, organizing and leading small groups, Bible studies, Christian education programs, outreach programs, and trips. I also worked as a counselor and staff leader, and teacher at Camp Capers (an Episcopal summer camp in the Hill Country) for 3 summers. I also led the teaching and activities for a high school session at Camp Allen (an Episcopal summer camp near Houston). During my time at UT, I was also commissioned by the Diocese of West Texas and the Diocese of Texas to lead a number of retreats, camps, and programs for young people.
Upon graduating from the University of Texas, I was hired as a Religion teacher at TMI-The Episcopal School of Texas. I taught middle school World Religions and Ethics, and high school Old Testament and New Testament.
I am currently working on a Master of Arts in Religion at the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest, and I plan to return to teaching religion upon the completion of my degree.

I traveled to Turkey in 2005 to learn about Islam and participated in community-wide events such as Iftar dinners and panel discussion. I also attended the International Conference on Interfaith Dialogue at Southern Methodist University in March of 2006
