My name is Tina. I am a special education teacher. I have been a teacher for 17 years. I have taught all grades from Kindergarten to 8th grade. Throughout my years of teaching, I have worked with learning disabled, dyslexic, autistic, severe behavior, and cognitively delayed students. I have tutored at the high school level, especially math.

I have a minor in math and love algebra. I also have many specialized reading methods to assist with reading. I have a bachelors in elementary and special education and a master's in early childhood education.I also have 2 children a 16 year old boy and an 8 year old girl. they are the pride and joy of my life.

I believe everyone can learn anything they put their minds too-the only trick is finding the clue to help them learn and remember it. I have tutored several students, including experience working in the reading lab at Youngstown State University when I went to college, helping elementary students read and learn math, working with middle school student to read and write.

elementary (k-6th)

I have a certificate from the state of Ohio to teach elementary grades 1-8. I also have a permanent certificate to teach special education K-12. I have taught in a primary K-2 building since 1999. I have also spent one year teaching grades 2-4 and the remainder of my teaching career teaching grades 6-8. I have taught both math and language arts to all of the grade levels mentioned. I have a vast amount of teaching and tutoring experience in this age level.

phonics

I have taken certification in the Orton Gillingham Reading Training which is a specialize reading for students who have trouble reading. I have also attending and been trained in the Stevenson Reading program which is another specialized reading program. I have worked with many dyslexic students in my career and have many hands on and multisensory approaches to teaching phonics to students using all senses. I do not believe in a strict pencil and paper approach, but rather a holistic and multisensory approach that will reach all learners even those with difficulty.

special needs

I have been a special needs teacher since 1995. I have taught grades kindergarten through 8th grade in math, reading and writing. I have kept up on new methodologies to teach special needs students. I have worked with severe behavior students and autistic students. I have used picture schedules as well.
