I have been tutoring since 2005, mostly in math and science. I was a volunteer tutor for Mu Alpha Theta and worked mainly with students in algebra 1 and pre-calculus, although I have some experience with algebra 2 and geometry students as well. I was also a volunteer tutor in biology, chemistry, and high school level physics. I tutored Algebra 1 for six weeks during the summer of 2009 through another online service.
I am currently in my second year at Lincoln Memorial University where I am majoring in English and Environmental Science. I have been on the Dean’s List every semester. I attended Hume-Fogg Academic High School in Nashville, TN. I took an academically rigorous course load, including several AP courses and entered college with enough credit to almost be considered a sophomore. I graduated as a member of both Mu Alpha Theta, a nationally recognized math society, and National Honors Society. I graduated with distinguished honors in May, 2008. My future academic plans are to finish my undergraduate work here at LMU and to go on to graduate school, where I wish to get my doctorate in Anthropology.
As for my personal interests, I have many hobbies and interests that I pursue outside of school. I enjoy writing, mostly short fiction, although I have attempted several longer projects as well. I have taught myself a little about photography and am especially passionate about nature photography. I love music, both listening to it and playing it. I have played clarinet for 9 years and took private lessons for 4 years. I have also taken an intro to music theory class, just out of personal interest in the subject. I am currently in the concert choir and the band on campus. Finally I love to read. It's possibly one of my favorite activities. I will read just about anything, although I will admit I have a weakness for fantasy novels.
