I am currently a student at Drake University in the Specialist in Education program. I hold a BA in Business Administration from Grandview College, and MS in Adult Learning and Organizational Performance from Drake University. I have applied to the Doctor of Education program, and should know my status by March 2010. I have twenty years of experience in business, human resources, and training and development, and have supplemented my income by tutoring, coaching, and mentoring individuals at all education levels.
My primary subjects are: general math, accounting, and business, leadership, management, career development, college planning, instructional design, speech/debate, history, negotiation skills, general life skills, business mentoring and coaching, ethics/integrity training, and writing. I was recently published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Business Ethics, and often deliver speeches, training, and workshops throughout the country. I believe a student needs to be engaged in their learning, and it is the job of the facilitator to make the work interesting and fun. I get to know each of my students as individuals, and develop long-term healthy relationships with them. If I believe I cannot accomplish this with my students, I have worked with them to find a person that can at my own time and expense. I want those I work with to be happy and succeed in their work.
I am available for general tutoring in the Iowa communities of Newton, Monroe, Knoxville, Pella, and Prairie City, and for business training and consulting nationwide(for an additional fee for travel, expenses, etc.).
