About Janie

Hello. My name is Janie. I'm 22 years old and I am getting ready to start my junior year of college in January as a registered nursing student. I have many college credit hours, 72 to be exact. I have a certificate in practical nursing that I earned in August of 2007. Based on my major, I have a strong background in science and math. So far, my tutoring experience is with school age children ages 5 to 12 and on occasion high school students ages 15 and 16. I have been tutoring school age children for about two and a half years now and high school students for about a month. I believe learning a skill takes fundamental background knowledge to master that skill, that means practice, practice, practice. I do best with verbally and visually showing my students how to do things; I have found that works best. I am willing to go beyond what is expected of me to help anyone succeed.

  • elementary (k-6th)

For the past two years, I have had the pleasure to tutor school age children ages 5 to 12 in the afternoons during the school week. During this time, I have covered all grades and aspects of a general elementary school program with focus on S.O.L. objectives. In addition to elementary, I have predominately helped middle school children with math and reading in the past. During the sessions, I help the children master the concepts they have been introduced to that day through homework such as worksheets assigned by their teachers.
