About Carin

Hi! My educational background is in Business Management and Counseling Psychology.

When I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Business Management, I worked in business-related jobs that happened to required strong computer skills, especially with Miscrosoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office. In today's workforce it can be difficult to be considered for many jobs or perform your job proficiently without having basic computer skills.

After getting my Masters degree in Counseling Psychology, I worked as a high school counselor in the Westminster area. I had the frequent opportunity to work with students in regards to future planning, college planning, scholarship searches, job searches, skill development, career development, and interview / follow-up skills. I also worked one-on-one with students needing guidance social skills and group interaction skills. These personal skills can make a tremendous difference in people's relationship, both personal and professional.

I recognize that it can often be difficult to ask for assistance, but I look forward to being able help you improve your computer and / or personal & professional skills.

  • Excellent teacher

Carin helped my daughter understand how to use Excel in just 4 hours...something college had not been able to accomplish in 4 years! My daughter liked Carin and enjoyed her approach to teaching...and she's ready for her internship now. Thanks, Carin. Leslie L from Boulder CO

More On Carin's Subjects

  • general computer

Although computers can be overwhelming or intimidating if you don't feel competent to use them, I have found that being able to learn just a few basic skills can boost your confidence and eagerness to learn. Being able to offer computer skills coaching to people in my personal life as well as co-workers and students has been very rewarding. It truly opens up new oportunities and can make your life easier in many ways. By education in Business, as well as my job history in the education field has allowed me to build upon my computer skills on an ongoing basis.

  • special needs

I have found it very rewarding to work with students and adults in regards to building an improved set of personal and business social skills. I believe many people struggle to build strong relationships, at work and at home, because they never developed strong social skills. For children, teens, and young adults it can be devastating to not know how to interact with peers or be able to effectively communicate their point-of-view. For adults, it can be quite frustrating to know that you have the necessary skill set to get or keep a job, but not be able to relate to people in a way that the business world finds acceptable. Social Skills Coaching offers some straightforward, learned skills that can help people better function within their world of work. My degrees in Counseling Psychology and in Business Management have allowed me the opportunity to work with people of all ages that struggle to connect with the people around them and are disappointed in their inability to thrive at work.

  • career development

Within my Masters degree in Counseling Psychology, I specified School Counseling as my focus, which allowed me to best prepare myself to work with high school students and their plans for the future. Throughout my five years as a high school counselor, common discussions with students focused around future planning, college planning, scholarship searches, job searches, skill development, career development, and interview / follow-up skills. I've also used my career development coaching skills with adult job seekers, adult career changers, and parents of high school & college students.
