About Craig

I hold a bachelor's degree in English Literature from the Univ. of Calif. at Santa Barbara, with a minor in history (ancient world, European, and American). I also studied philosophy, religion, politics, art, and music. I hold a first-degree black belt in Cuong Nhu karate, and am an avid athlete, having played college basketball, and spend time golfing and skiing.

I love to teach (and learn) and come from a family of teachers--I have many years of experience in the business world as well.

My style of teaching consists of making sure the student fully understands the material and concepts so he or she can become an independent and enthusiastic thinker, with a real interest and curiosity in whatever subject I teach.

More On Craig's Subjects

  • basketball

I played basketball throughout my youth and played a year of college basketball, before being sidelined by injuries. My father was a basketball coach and referee and I grew up watching basketball on television and attending live games on all levels, and have many friends who are basketball coaches. I was the leading scorer and all-league choice on a championship high school team, and was the leading scoreer and an all-league choice as a freshmen on my college team. I have kept myself in excellent physical health, and can play and teach any position on the court. I am very positive in my approach to teaching the game, and can be both exacting and patient, keeping in mind that the player's progress and enjoyment is paramount.
