Nina R has been teaching English and writing for the past four years. She holds a BA in English from Tufts University and an MA in the Humanities from NYU. She first taught courses in the Expository Writing Program at NYU to college freshmen. She then went on to become a high school English teacher at the Branson School and at Bay Ridge Preparatory School. Nina is passionate about teaching, loves her subject, and truly enjoys working with students. In addition to helping students improve in English and writing (and also raise their scores on standardized tests), Nina makes the learning experience enjoyable by varying her lesson plans and by making learning a participatory event. Nina believes in step-by-step, sequential exercises tailored to each student to build his or her fluency and confidence in a given subject. In her Verbal SAT classes last year at Bay Ridge Prep, students raised their scores by an average of 250-300 points. As a tutor, she has helped students who have always struggled with writing become confident and comfortable with drafting essays and producing strong, polished pieces of writing. As an English teacher, teaching students how to analyze a text or compose a well-organized critical essay is almost second nature for Nina. Nina loves to teach and is an expert in her subject. She looks forward to meeting you soon!
