I graduated from Newport Harbor High School in 2005 with honors and scored highly on my SAT I&II and ACT tests. My senior year I participated in one of the first programs of its kind in the country where carefully-selected, successful seniors mentored struggling freshmen and was awarded Mentor of the Year. While there I was also president of our school's Mock Trial team and a member of it's elite throwing (shot put and discus) and Olympic weightlifting squad where I consistently trained with Olympic athletes from the US, Canada, the Netherlands, and Norway under the tutelage of Tony Ciarelli, a renowned Level III USATF and USAW instructor. I competed in the 2005 National Junior Olympic Weightlifting Championships, and have a personal competition record of 220kg at a weight of 87kg. I have extensive knowledge of strength training including methods used by former eastern-block countries Russia and Bulgaria, as well as shot put and discus throwing technique. I graduated from the University of Puget Sound in May, 2009 with a 3.25/4.00 GPA, a major in history and a minor in German. My junior year I participated in a language-immersion study abroad program through Lewis & Clark College and attended classes at the prestigious Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, Germany, where I lived for eleven months. I recently have moved to SE Portland from Tacoma WA and am willing to tutor across the greater Portland area.
