I believe in using a variety of teaching strategies because all children DO NOT have the same learning strategies. Some children learn by hearing, some learn by seeing and some learn by doing. I will see what type of learner each student is, to help them be successful in their academic achievements.
I believe in rewarding students on their efforts and improvements.
Once receiving my BA degree in early childhood, and elementary education I taught second grade for 2 years 2000-2002. During those 2 years I tutored after school with the tutoring program, and I tutored because parents were asking me to. I saw the need. There were so many children that went lacking because they couldn't get what we as teachers needed them to get in that certain time frame.
Since then I have decided to give my children at home what I have been able to give the children I taught in school. I homeschool two children (boys). My boys are nine years old and four years old. I separate the two boys (for obvious reasons different learning levels, but we come together for story time, activity time, reading time, P.E. time and lunch time. Since my 9 year old has been out of school his grades has improved tremendously. I personally know what one-on-one tutoring can do for a child.
I believe each child can improve, especially on a one-on-one. We just have to be patient and see what it takes to help them reach their highest academic level.
