Hi! I recently moved to Louisville from Houston, Texas, where I taught second grade, all subjects, for 5 years. I also tutored multiple individuals in various elementary grades. I have provided one-on-one tutoring, as well as group tutoring, in all elementary subjects. I have a strong ability to work with reluctant or struggling learners, as well as individuals with learning and behavioral/social disabilities. As a teacher, I want to convey the idea that learning is fun and occurs every day in all types of situations. I am a lifetime lover of learning and I hope to instill this love in my students. In my classroom I have used books, tools, stations, posters, bulletin boards, manipulatives, and learning materials that grab the students attention and pull them into a world full of creation, knowledge, application, invention, adventure, connections and more! I strive to establish a sense of trust with my students and I greet each of my students with a smile and enthusiasm about what that new day brings.
Since I want each and every child to learn and grow, and because I know that each new learner is unique, I am constantly seeking the best instructional methods and materials in order to differentiate my instruction to meet the needs of individual students. As a certified elementary teacher, I know the importance of teaching required curriculum, and I do so with regard to the various learning styles of my students. I strive to not only assess my students’ accomplishments, but congratulate and celebrate students’ learning and progress. By providing my students with modeled, guided, and independent levels of learning in each subject area, I can hope to expect my students to not only learn and practice the concepts I teach, but apply and truly understand them as well. I also instruct using hands-on learning materials and real life application of skills and knowledge, as I know these tools and techniques are vital to student success and understanding. I look forward to meeting you and/or your child and working together toward success!
