I hold both a Bachelors (2005) and Masters (2007) degree in Anthropology; I graduated with a 4.0 GPA in my graduate level studies. My academic training in anthropology placed a heavy emphasis on researching, through qualitative methods such as interviewing, observations, and focus groups, and compiling the resulting data into written form and for oral presentations. Anthropology also places a strong emphasis on appreciating the diversity of cultures and ethnicities in contemporary society.
I have a deep interest in literature, history, political science, sociology, and economics; electives throughout my undergraduate and graduate studies have reflected this interest. Immediately after graduation I worked as a Policy Analyst for a research institute in Portland, OR. I have been employed by the Pierce County Health Department since October 2007 as a Community Health Assessor.
My teaching style focuses on instilling a love of learning about the world around us and its history. I believe the most important question a student can ask is "why?" and from that question learning begins.
I also play guitar and love music. I would be willing to teach beginning guitar lessons as well.
