About Sarah

I am a 30-year-old former high school teacher with a Bachelor's degree in English and a Master's degree in Arts Administration. I have been certified in the past by the state of Michigan to teach English and History for grades 7-12. I have classroom experience with grades 6-12, and also enjoy working with students in 4th and 5th grade.

Having dealt with and managed my own ADHD, I am an understanding and patient educator who believes in multiple intelligences and that not every student learns the same way. I believe in self-motivation and personal responsibility for all students. Students are responsible for their own learning, and I can help them learn how to learn.

I also believe that the home life greatly affects a student's ability to learn and achieve success in the classroom. I am willing to work with parents and classroom teachers to help a student succeed.

I would be most comfortable and successful tutoring English/Writing/Literature and History/Social Studies related subject areas. I will not give students the answers or do their homework for them.
