About Jaclyn

I am currently a Junior at the University of West Florida. I am studying to receive my BA in Biological Anthropology. I am also minoring in Music.

Throughout my grade school career I was enrolled in challenging courses, and received college credit on a number of AP tests including English, Environmental Science, and Music Theory.

I hold an AA in Anthropology from Gainesville Florida's Santa Fe College.

Although I have never formally taught, it was common practice for classmates to ask me to explain a subject or how to solve a math problem. It is important to me that students learn how to study, not just the subject matter. Memorization is worthless without understanding, and it comes easier with understanding.

My weekend schedule varies some, but if I have an appointment I'll be certain to be there.

More On Jaclyn's Subjects

  • general music

I began piano lessons in first grade, and have continued broadening the scope of my musical knowledge since then. I marched Alto Saxophone for two years and Clarinet for two years in High School in the Golden Regiment at Buchholz High in Gainesville, Fl. I am currently minoring in music at the University of West Florida. In 2006 I passed the AP Music Theory exam.

  • oboe

I have been involved in music lessons since early elementary school, oboe since middle school. I was a member of the Buchholz High School Wind Symphony for the four years of my High School experience. I participated in Alachua County's Solo and Ensemble Festival for all seven years from middle to high school playing solos, performing in woodwind quintets and double reed quartets. I have also participated in Alachua County's all-county band. I attended Stetson University's Double Reed summer camps for a number of years in various positions, including primary English Horn. I also received the principal oboe position in the University of Florida's music summer camp. I currently hold the principal oboe position in the University of West Florida's Symphonic Band. I have had private lessons with the professors of oboe at the University of Florida and Stetson University, as well as the director of bands at the University of West Florida.
