About Richard

I have a Master degree in Elementary Education grades 1-8, with a graduate minor in Reading. My undergraduate degree was completed in two majors, History and Mass Media. I have taught 5th grade History and 7th and 8th grade Math. As for tutoring, I have tutored 8th grade "at risk" students for the LEAP test in Math. I have also provided private tutoring for students in lower grade Math levels.
As for teaching style, I do tend to lean toward a drill and practice type method. I also like to have a student rely on his/her mind in working problems. I challenge a student to find a way to solve a problem. Students should know how to work a problem. Calculators are good support tools, but a mind should be used and cultivated.
