I am an experienced, dynamic and academically-trained language teacher seeking an opportunity to help students become proficient in a second language. As a language instructor with over 10 years of experience teaching ESOL/EFL as well as Portuguese and Spanish to teenagers and college students both in the USA and abroad, I have acquired expertise in second language acquisition theories and strategies and developed a passion to help learners achieve their linguistic goals.
I secured a Bachelor’s degree in English/ TEFL concentration from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil. I have also secured a Master’s in History from the University of Mississippi, where I completed 6 credit hours in the TESOL program and worked as a Portuguese instructor for two and a half years. Currently I am completing my MA thesis in Biblical Literature at Oral Roberts University, where I have expanded my linguistic skills in the study of Biblical Hebrew and Greek, and where I served as the Teaching Assistant to the Professor of Biblical Greek for one full year.
In sum, the extensive TEFL/TESL training I received both in Brazil and the United States, in addition to my diversified education in foreign languages and cultural-historical studies have afforded me the opportunity to become an excellent language teacher.
My main areas of experience/expertise are: English for Speakers of Other Languages, English grammar, Portuguese, Spanish, Literatures, Biblical Greek, and Biblical Studies. I have taught these subjects both at the Elementary, High-School and College Levels.
If these are some areas that you or your child might need help with, don’t hesitate to give me a call. I look forward to the opportunity of serving you!
Sincerely,
Erika
