Hello!
My name is Kate. Currently, I am employed as a Recruiter for Accounting Now, a company that specializes in placing Accounting and Finance candidates within large corporations in the North and Northwest Suburbs of Chicago.
My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Drake University (to which I had a partial scholarship for Mathematics) in Business, with an emphasis in Accounting, an Associates Degree in Business from Oakton Community College and a Bachelor of Culinary Arts Degree from the Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago.
As an IL State Scholar, a member of Who's Who Among High School Students, a member of the National Merit Scholars and a Mathlete, I graduated from Regina Dominican High School in Wilmette in the top 10% of my class.
My tutoring experience includes peer tutoring throughout high school and college in all math classes, tutoring grammar school children in a variety of Math and English, as well as assisting students with learning entry level accounting principals at the College level. I excel at all levels of Algebra and Geometry, all grammar school level classes and entry level Accounting.
My current job allows me to keep my Math and Accounting Skills current, while providing an opportunity to help people find employment in a volatile job market. Personality is a huge part of my daily jobs, as I have to communicate effectively with candidates and clients at all levels of accounting.
Finally, as a graduate of the Le Cordon Bleu program in Chicago, I am qualified to teach individuals the art of cooking anything. I have held cooking classes in my home as well as being a guest chef for cooking parties. As a Food Demonstration Chef for Trader Joe's, I taught customers how to cook various meat/fish/dessert items found throughout the store.
As a tutor, I try to find the method of teaching that best suits the student. Every person learns a different way, and as a tutor it is my job to figure out how to instruct the student in a manner that is conducive to their personal learning techniques. In other words, I adapt my teaching style to each person's individual needs. My entire life I have been teaching various people various skills, and am looking forward to continuing this tradition.
On a personal level, I am a 34 year old mother/wife who lives in Des Plaines. My daughter is 14 months old and I come from a very large family. I grew up tutoring my three younger sisters in all subjects. Please contact me to determine if I am the right fit for your learning needs.
Thank you, and have a great day!
Kate
