My name is Veronica. I have a Master in Teaching Mathematics from National-Louis University, Master of Business Administration in Accounting from University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of General Science in Computer Science from Roosevelt University. I worked as a full-time teacher for four years in Waukegan, Illinois. During that period, I taught 7th and 8th grade students algebra, geometry, statistic and graphs. I used a variety of training aids such as: graphic calculators, online math programs, workbooks and field trips to teach these subjects. I also offered math tutoring after school for all grade levels.
Since math is a cumulative subject, I like to identify areas where a student is weak and work at improving it. For example, if I am tutoring a student in Algebra and I discover that they are weak in fractions, I will also help the student improve their understanding of fractions. I believe in using math aids to help improve understanding of a subject and will have the aids available to all students that I tutor.
The goal of my tutoring session is to improve the student’s basic understanding of the subject matter so they can apply that knowledge to higher levels of math.
