Regarding Spanish: I have been tutoring Spanish for the last 2 years at the College Level. I can help with College(Beginner through Advanced), High School (NYS Regents) and Middle School level Spanish. I can tutor conversation, writing and grammar. I prefer not to do literature, but won't completely rule it out if the right fit comes along. In addition, I have studied abroad at the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija in Madrid, Spain and the Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata in Argentina. I have also written articles and Op-Eds for El Diario/La Prensa NY, the major Spanish language daily for the NYC metro area. My teaching style is very customized to the client's pace and interests. I believe that a person learns best and retains the most when they are interested in what they are learning. I will, wherever possible, use examples that relate to the student's interests and incorporate multimedia (such as music and video) to make the learning experience more fun and relevant to the student's needs and goals.
Regarding Law: I have a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and have taken many courses in Constitutional Law, Human Rights Law, Criminal and Civil Procedure, Women's Rights Law, and the like. I will soon be taking the LSAT and plan to attend law school. Apart from my extensive academic experience in the legal field, I have also been on my high school's Mock Trial Team, interned from the Kings County Brooklyn District Attorney, the law firms of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, and Levine and Blit, PLLC (no-fault litigation). I am great at crystallizing the law into an easy to understand format
Regarding Proofreading, Writing, and English: I also have a Bachelor's Degree in Media Studies with an emphasis on Journalism. In addition to writing for El Diario/La Prensa NY (see above), I have also been a Senior Staff Writer for my school newspaper, with many front page stories, as well as features, and opinion columns. I also currently have my own blog. I have revised and edited columns at El Diario/La Prensa NY, and I have been regularly sought out by peers to review their writing work. I have always given them detailed feedback, been able to hone in on detrimental patterns in their writing, and given them tips on how to improve. In addition to this informal experience I also tutored College Level English for a semester at my university.
Again, as it begs restating, learning is best when the student sees the subject matter as relevant and they are interested in it. That is my teaching philosophy. An interested student will take joy in learning, and that is the ideal outcome for all involved, be they teachers, students, or parents.
