I am a retiree of the University of Nebraska system with an undergraduate major in English and minors in social studies, speech and German. My coursework at the master's and doctorate levels at Nebraska was in education and psychology. Within a counseling centered approach, I have worked with students on reading improvement skills, especially comprehension, and with the improvement of study and writing skills. The development of short-term goals, time management patterns, and incremental learning were included in the focus for improvement of both learning and relearning patterns in our laboratory approach. Gaining impressions of lifestyle, especially the influence of diversions, are typical areas for consideration for the student in tutoring. Within a core of such skills, the learner would then focus on the development of methodologies related to subject areas.

  My teaching experience at the elementary and junior high levels includes grades K through 8. I have had experiential training in the subject areas of reading and written expression. I am and English major with minors in social studies and speech. Within a counseling laboratory system, I have worked with students in the areas of reading comprehension, study skills, and on mediation of lifestyle patterns and diversions as these behaviors relate to increasing learning in specific subject matter areas and overall in the classroom. I feel that my teaching strengths are in the subject areas of reading as a subject area and in written expression.
