Hi. My name is Mayu. I'm a Japanese native and just about a year ago I moved to Cleveland, OH after I studied and worked in New York, NY for 7 years. All my families and friends live in Fukuoka, Japan, where I was born and raised. After I graduated from high school in Japan, I moved to America by myself to learn English and pursue to study and earn a degree in art. In 2005, I graduated from Hunter College with a B.A. in Studio Art in New York, NY. After graduating from college, I have interned and worked as a gallery assistant for an art gallery in Brooklyn, NY and worked and assisted for professional sculptor and ceramicist as well. Also, I worked for photo production company where I assisted in translating documents for clients in Japan.
I'm very comfortable tutoring Japanese to any level from beginners to those who want to study and prepare for the Japanese proficiency test. I have experience in tutoring Japanese for college students in exchange to study English for myself and for many of my friends from foreign countries that I met during my time in ESL language school. I've always had a passion to learn English (foreign language) and to make that as my way to meet new people and explore the world and not only to use that as a great communication skill but also to understand and appreciate cultures that I'm interested in and nurture myself. Because I have an experience of learning foreign language, I’d like to share my experience with you and contribute what I learned from my own experience.
I'm humble to have this opportunity and I want to make our tutoring experience worthwhile together with you whether this is for your personal achievement or simply for your own interest. I’m very dedicated to my work and always like to be prepared and I’m willing to make my time and efforts to meet your expectations as your tutor and I want our lessons to be challenging and interesting as well and make sure that we communicate and be very clear about what you can learn from me and how I can tutor and support you.
