About Hallie

I am a recent college graduate from Wichita State University; I completed my degree in Fine Arts in May. I am friendly and personable, and I love working with people! I feel like I get along well with kids and teenagers because I treat them with respect and genuinely value their opinions.
All throughout high school and college, I have excelled and gotten excellent marks. In fact, I received High Honors upon graduation from college for my excellent Grade Point Average. Additionally, I participated in a variety of extracurricular activities during my college career ranging from gallery management to fashion shows! I am always pushing myself to succeed, and I believe I could inspire this same motivation in students.
You should know that this is my first go at tutoring, but while I may not have any direct experience as a tutor, I feel my personality, education, and desire to make a difference qualifies me for this job! I would appreciate this opportunity to a tremendous degree, and I thank you in advance for your consideration!
A little more about myself...
Throughout college, I worked in retail and customer service. Most recently I was employed at Von Maur as a sales associate in the Children's Department. I left that job on good terms so that I could focus on my studies for my final (and most demanding) semester of school. Today I run a small online business selling clothing and accessories that I make by hand. My degree is in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Studio Arts. Primarily I paint, but I like to work in all types of media. I also love to read and I enjoy writing short stories. I am very creative and have an active imagination. Above all, however, I am self-motivated! I believe hard work pays off, and I am always pushing myself to do more or to get better at something. I am so excited by the chance to make a difference, and am fully confident that I can do so!
Thanks again for your consideration,
Hallie
P.S. In my profile picture - that's me with Cecilia, my little cat. I love animals!

More On Hallie's Subjects

  • drawing

I have had a natural creative ability since I was a child. Throughout high school, I was the "go-to-girl" for murals, cartoons, t-shirt designs, etc. I took a liking to pencil and ink illustration and caricatures, but also maintained an interest in life drawing and realism. After high school, I attended Wichita State University's School of Art and Design on a scholarship and completed my degree in Studio Arts in May 2009. While there, I enrolled in several drawing classes and further honed my skills. Today I have completed countless drawing projects, and am confident not only in my ability to draw in many different styles and media, but also to teach others the fundamentals of drawing. I am open to teaching students of all skill levels! Whether you love to draw and just need a second opinion, or if you're the type of person who can barely draw a stick figure, I'm willing to help! I am always able to identify the "problem areas" in a drawing, and to offer creative solutions and honest feedback. When it comes to giving instruction on art, I am a low-pressure, understanding, and respectful teacher. I am a firm believer that art should be a fun, painless, and relaxing activity, no matter WHO you are!

  • painting

I attended Wichita State University's School of Art and Design and received my degree in Studio Arts in May 2009. While there, I focused mostly on painting, and took many classes to hone my skills. I enjoy all types of painting - acrylic, watercolor, oil, and mixed media, and I like to work in many different styles: realism, surrealism, abstraction, pop art...maybe even all of them mixed together! Whether you have some painting experience and just need a second opinion, or you've never picked up a paintbrush, I can help! I have extensive knowledge of color theory, color mixing, composition, canvas stretching, and more. I have also taken many classes in art history, and we can talk about the various art movements and art theories if you like! When it comes to giving instruction on art, I am a low-pressure, understanding, and respectful teacher. I am a firm believer that art should be a fun, painless, and relaxing activity, no matter WHO you are!
