I have my Master's Degree in Teaching ESL, a Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics, and teaching experience with a wide variety of learners. I've worked with students as young as 4 and as old as 40 from over 18 different countries. I know that everyone struggles with different aspects of learning the English Language. My enjoyment in teaching comes from finding ways to help my students succeed at all aspects of communication and discovering new ways to make the task at hand exciting.

ESL/ESOL

My wide variety of experiences teaching in the United States as well as abroad make me uniquely qualified to be an ESL/ESOL tutor. I completed my EdM in Teaching ESL at Boston University and earned a license to teach English as a Second Language for grades 5-12 in Massachusetts. During this program I performed my student teaching experience at Lincoln Park Elementary School in a 6th grade sheltered English immersion classroom in Somerville, Massachusetts, a multicultural urban school district. I also spent a year teaching English in Taiwan in an English immersion setting. I am currently a teacher with South Hennepin Adult Programs in Education and work with Transitions Level (Upper Intermediate) Students. Because of my excellent training at Boston University I have found myself working with varying types of students and performing a wide range of tasks. Having taught students as young as 4 and as old as 40 has allowed me to gain personal knowledge of the different challenges ESL students face at different stages of life and learning as well as their different sets of standards, benchmarks, and corresponding assessments. The knowledge I have gained teaching such various populations has made me a well rounded ESL teacher.
