I am a Construction Project Manager in the Buidling Construction Industry and have been for the past 9 years. My job requires me to be very analytical and detailed. These skills are normally learned through years of experience, but more importantly having a high level of intellect in math and good writing skills.
The highest math that I have taken is Calculus III. Every day math that we use on the job for estimations and so forth are algebra and geometry. Writing reports and correspondences is another important skill that is required and a proficiency in MS Word and Excel are needed for this. Reports and correspondences can be very analytical, technical, and need to be detailed. To be very professional, we need to be sure we have proper grammar and structure in conveying information that can be well understood and meaningful.
Another great benefit in my experiences is that I can also teach or help in developing strategies for becoming a successful student or professional. I too had to develop good study habits. Whether you are in a formal classroom setting or an independent learner, a short evaluation of your learning preferences will enable you and I to develop a plan for improvement.
