About Genelle

Hi, my name is Genelle C. I'm a 23 year old college student, soon to have my B.A. in English with a focus in creative writing (I have approximaately six units to go). Throughout my college career and my general interest throughout life, my major focus has been engaging with texts of all mediums, including theatre, film, art, music, but most especially liturature and writing. This has transfered into many of my off-campus activities: I am active in the Sacarmento poetry community, continue to attend many readings and publish in several journals, have taken part in theatre events (plays, concerts, etc.), regularly visit art exhibits, and only hope to expand my artistic horizons and those of others in the future.

Although creative writing is my major passion, its not the only one I have. Throughout my high school and college career, I have consistently written both short and long papers that receive high marks, usually in the B+ to A+ range, on a wide number of subjects, including film studies, literature, philosophy, psychology, history, and political sciences, all of which interest me. I have been told I have a real eye for editing, proofreading, organizing/clarifying, and just in general helping myself and other student revamp and renew thier tired, confused, scattered papers. Believe it or not, I enjoy reading and editing, it helps me actually undersand what I know about the language and what problems can occur in it better, and in extension, gives me a greater appreciation of both the infinite beauty and infinite complexities of the language as a whole.

As a tutor, I'm really of the philosophy that if you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime. I'm not very interested in writing your papers for you, as that would do you little good in the long run. What I am interested in doing is giving you the tools, techniques, technical understandings and thought processes that can help you transform your papers in ANY subject into clearer, more innovative pieces. I'm more than happy to edit, proofread, research, and just troubleshoot or brainstorm with you about what you want to achieve with any given paper. Whatever you can bring me, I can pretty much guarantee we can make it workable.

I do have a few limitations, mainly transportation. Right now, with the economy the way it is, I choose to live without the use of a car, meaning most of my tutoring would have to occur in the midtown sacramento area or somewhere close by reachable by Light Rail or Bus Route. Hopefully, this will not be too much a problem, for I think driving a little distance is not too much to ask a student who wants 1 on 1 tutoring.

I'm looking forward to meeting you soon. I'm reachable by email several times of the day, so feel free to mail at any time.
