About Catherine

Sophomore at Brown University, Neuroscience Major. Current GPA 4.0. Science classes taken in college: general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biology of infectious diseases. High school science courses: AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Psychology, Human Anatomy and Physiology. Very enthusiastic about physiology and organic chemistry. Work in chemistry research lab dealing with drug synthesis. Music courses taken in college: music theory and choral conducting. Nine years of violin lessons, member of San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra in high school.

Teaching style: I tend to stay away from memorization and focus more on fully understanding concepts either visually or logically. Am a huge fan of practice problems, and using each problem to understand the concepts more fully. Loves when students see the 'big picture' in science--that is, how everything you learn is related and applicable in the real world.

"Great, patient tutor!"

- ERIKA M. from Campbell, CA

Catherine was easy to communicate with prior to the session. When we met, she was very bright and really knew the subject matter. She explained it in a way that helped me better understand the concepts. When she felt I wasn't understanding, she'd try and explain in a different way. She asked me questions to gauge comprehension. Her style was very pleasant. Catherine would be a great educator if other things don't work out! : )
