I am a graduate of C.S.U. Fresno with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology. I love working with kids and enjoy seening the progress made on their subjects. My first experience in helping kids was as a volunteer with ReadFresno. I worked with kids from 1st - 3rd grade on reading. I later became a volunteer tutor with Fresno Unified School District. I worked with a girl from the Ukraine for an hour a week. During that hour I worked with the alphabet and sounds and picture words and some spelling and math. I also worked with 2 boys in Kindergarten who were behind in their reading for a whole 45 minutes. I worked with words and sounds and had them read. I later was employed by the Cullinan Education Center. Trained in assessing and working with phonics, blending, spelling, and reading. I worked with students that are No Left Behind Children and within and with only 24 sessions and each session was 55 minutes these children progressed very rapidly. I loved doing it but because of the economic situation was laid off because of lack of students. I am more than willing to work with children who need help with reading, spelling and basic math.

elementary (k-6th)

I love working with children. I have worked with children at church and in the public. I want learning to be a fun process. I have worked in the Public Schools with ReadFresno to improve in their reading, and when reading improves all of the other subjects improve as well. I have also a volunteer tutor with Fresno Unified School District, helping children to learn in their reading as well. I was employed for a short time with Cullinan Education Center working on phonics, blending, spelling and reading. My students in all of these areas improved. I look forward to helping you progress in your subjects at the elementary level.

general computer

I have had a computer since 1998, and recently purchased a notebook this year. When I originally bought my computer, I took adult classes at Clovis Adult School. Received certification for Windows 95, Word and Excel. On my last job I learned about Access.

phonics

I have had the opportunity to work for Cullinan Education Center working especially with phonics. The children showing them the letters or combination of letters would give me the sounds, then I would give the sounds. I would also teach new sounds as well so the student would learn more words. I loved doing this because I get excited in helping children succeed in their subject.

flute

I have been a flute player for over 40 years. I did not major in music, and I am not a professional, I am considered an amateur. But I do love to play the flute. I started when I was in grammar school, continued with it through college. After college joined various community groups.
