In addition to having an extensive business background, my background is deep and rich in training and development. The depth of my experience, and the breadth of my expertise, was garnered in various positions of increased responsibility in many fields, and across a range industries. I hold a B.S. in Business Management, a M.S. in Human Resource Management, and PHR (Professional in Human Resources) certification.
I possess a true love of learning, and am dedicated, committed and passionate about education. I have been successful teaching children, and young adults. As a math teacher, I was responsible for the development, implementation and instruction of the school's mathematics program in grades four to eight; as an educational consultant my focus was on integrating technology-driven courseware with the traditional curriculum in 47 schools throughout NY and NJ. Additionally, I have taught Junior Achievement career development classes to high school students to prepare them for entering the workforce, and life skills to students in the lower grades. I am familiar with the principles of learning and the important elements required to be effective and successful. I know first-hand how to achieve results for the individual and/or group as a whole.
Most importantly, I possess the key competencies that make for a successful instructor/teacher - patience, flexibility, and excellent listening skills. I receive the greatest satisfaction from imparting knowledge and helping others grow. I encourage open communication and show my students that I respect them, their ideas and varying viewpoints. I have traditionally fostered a creative learning environment that recognizes and capitalizes on the uniqueness of the individuals, their experiences and learning needs; an environment that begins with an understanding of the learner, his/her needs, and how s/he is motivated; an environment that encompasses clear and achievable learning objectives and meaningful material. I work to ensure that the material is relevant, easy to absorb, and can be easily applied to the real-world, and addresses the issues my students are currently facing. I compliment the curriculum with my own real-world experiences and encourage my students to share and discuss their own. I provide a forum that is highly-participatory, stimulating, interactive and fun; one which encourages asking questions and soliciting feedback. I encourage my students to use what they know to figure out what they don’t know, and stress the importance of being resourceful – knowing where, how and from whom to get answers. I remain focused and committed to advancing their problem-solving and critical thinking skills. I remain engaged, upbeat, accessible, passionate, and demonstrate that I care about the growth of each student and the subject matter itself.
